My name is Richard Reijmers, and I live in Hoofddorp, a charming town in the province of North-Holland, Netherlands. I share my life here with my wonderful wife, Ina, and our two amazing kids, Christopher and Emmaline.
With a rich history in hospitality, extensive travels, and training as a Maitre ‘d Hotel, my career in hospitality spanned over 10 years. During this time, I worked in Australia, New Zealand, England, and the Netherlands, taking pride in creating memorable experiences for guests. I also developed a deep appreciation for wine and was often responsible for curating the wine menu at the restaurants where I worked.
Currently, my professional focus is in product management. My journey in IT began as a self-taught front-end developer, progressing to a Linux Infrastructure Engineer, and evolving from a scrum master to a product owner. The challenges and opportunities in developing and managing innovative products are embraced with enthusiasm, blending creativity with strategic thinking to ensure exceptional user experiences. A strong interest in entrepreneurship adds an extra dimension to this role.
Outside of work, spending time with family is a top priority. We still love to travel and visit Indonesia every two years to see Ina’s parents. I’ve also learned Bahasa Indonesia to a degree where I can have a conversation if spoken clearly and not too fast.
Personal time is filled with hobbies that give me energy. These include exploring technology, self-hosting various applications, and optimising my smart home. I enjoy cooking nice food, visiting restaurants, and appreciating good wine. My fascination with space leads me to watch science fiction series like Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica, and The Expanse. To keep fit and challenge myself, I sign up for the Strong Viking obstacle course every year.
